100 Days of NMS: Badi scorecard revealed

The Nairobi Metropolitan Service (NMS) Director General Mohammed Badi’s administration has seen drastic changes to Nairobi CBD

The new office was established on March 18 by President Uhuru Kenyatta to tasked with overseeing four major functions transferred to the National Government from the county.

In transport, NMS has wtorked closely with NAMATA to implement Nairobi urban mobility plan, preparing pedestrian paths, cycling lanes.

These can be seen in Kenyatta Avenue, Wabera Street, and Muindi Mbingu Street.

In terms of waste clearing, NMS has been collecting about 175 truckloads of garbage daily, against the target of 2,000 truckloads daily.

The target, set by the Environmental Agencies, is to get rid of over 3,000 tons per day at Dandora Dumpsite.

This has seen delivery to the dumpsite shoot from 1,000 tons to average of 2,500 tons a day.

In the crucial water sector, NMS came up with strategies of equitable water distribution services.

These would be made possible by registering and monitoring water vendors.

So far, the elevation of 35 tanks, 20,903 meters of extension piping as well as the daily distribution of 200,000 litres of water to informal settlements using water bowsers, have been completed.
