37 of the 52 victims of the Friday road crash in Londiani have been positively identified.

Relatives of victims identified the bodies being preserved at the Londiani subcounty hospital.

According to Dr Collins Kipkoech, Medical Superintendent of Londiani Sub County Hospital, 12 bodies are yet to be identified.

Kipkoech stated that the identified bodies were released to relatives for transfer to mortuaries of their choice for preservation.

He stated that the hospital was in the process of decongesting the mortuary by transferring extra bodies to a mobile body deep-freezer provided by the Kenya Red Cross Society.

The sub county hospital mortuary has a capacity of 16 bodies.

Kipkoech revealed that an autopsy on the bodies revealed that the majority of the victims died as a result of heavy impact trauma, while others may have been electrocuted.
