Kenya’s Coronavirus deaths hit 382 after 13 more patients were reported in the last 24 hours – By Gerald Gekara.
While announcing today’s tally, Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman confirmed 544 more patients had tested positive for the disease out of 2,653 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
In the tally, 499 of the cases were Kenyans, with 45 foreigners.
Nairobi county reported (412) new cases, Kiambu (27), Machakos (17), Kajiado (17), Garissa (16), Uasin Gishu (14), Mombasa (9), Nakuru (8), Nyeri (5), Narok (5), Makueni (3), Laikipia (2), while Murang’a, Kilifi, Busia, Embu, Bungoma, Kisii, Kwale, and Meru reported one case each.
However 263 patients have recovered from the deadly virus, further pushing Kenya’s total negative tests to 8,740.
Dr. Aman called on Kenyans to continue following laid down health protocols, to safeguard health workers from strain while dealing with the pandemic.
The Kenya National Union of Nurses expressed concern over the rising death of its workers, after one Marian Awuor Adumbo, a nurse working at the Rachuonyo sub-county Hospital in Homa Bay, succumbed from COVID-19 complications at a Kisii health facility.
The union continued to pressure the government to honor its commitment to nurses over unpaid salaries, and adequately equip health workers with Personal Protective Equipment.
