14 Year Old Girl Dies in Narok South Following Alleged Punishment at Home

Residents of Emitik village in Sogoo Ward, Narok South Constituency, are mourning the death of a 14 year old girl following allegations that she sustained fatal injuries during punishment at home.

The deceased, identified as Peris Chepng’eno, was a Grade Seven pupil at Kijapa Primary School.

According to witnesses, including the area chief and a relative, the teenager was allegedly beaten by her mother and sister over what were described as household related mistakes.

During the incident, she reportedly collapsed and lost consciousness.

Police have since arrested the two suspects, who are being detained at Ololulung’a Police Station as investigations continue.

Authorities say they are expected to be arraigned in court.

The girl’s body has been moved to Longisa Hospital Mortuary in Bomet County, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.

Local leaders have called for calm and urged residents to allow investigations to proceed.

They have also emphasized the importance of adopting non-violent approaches to disciplining children.

The incident has sparked renewed concern over cases of excessive punishment and the need for greater awareness around child protection within the community.

Investigations are ongoing.
