18 Injured, 4 in Critical Condition After Popular Matatu ‘Uppercut’ Overturns in Nyeri

At least 22 people were injured following a tragic road accident involving the popular ‘Uppercut’ matatu in Dedan Kimathi Ward, Tetu Constituency, Nyeri County.

The ill-fated public service vehicle (PSV), known for its flashy design and popularity among young commuters, is reported to have overturned after losing control.

18 passengers suffered minor injuries and were transported to Nyeri Provincial General Hospital, while four remain in critical condition.

Kenya Red Cross teams swiftly responded to the incident, providing essential psychosocial support services to those affected.

Additionally, the organization assisted with family tracing at the crash site.

“Kenya Red Cross teams provided Psychosocial Support services to those affected and supported family chasing efforts at the scene,” the statement read.

Some Kenyans online said they had asked authorities to take action on the bus in vain.
