Grief has struck a village in Luanda, Vihiga County, after two people died in a suspected food poisoning at a church.
Forty-six (46) other persons were hospitalised after consuming a meal of rice and beans at Paradiso PAG Church in Luanda.
According to witnesses, the church members, most of whom originated from Luanda, had attended a ceremony when they were unknowingly served the contaminated food.
Moments after eating the food, the church members reportedly fell unconscious and were rushed to the Vihiga Sub-County Hospital where two people succumbed while receiving treatment.
They displayed symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting.
The Vihiga County health department has since dispatched a team of experts to investigate the matter.
