2 Police Officers Arrested For Demanding Sh5, 000 From JKUAT Student

Two police officers were arrested after demanding Ksh 5,000 from Leo Paul Maina Gichiana, a student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), in order to free him.

Abel Cheruyot Bukut of Kanyonyo Administration Police Training School in Kitui and Neville Kwemoi Chekech of Nandi East arrested Gichiana at Greenyard Junior Academy on allegation of possessing narcotics drugs, specifically cannabis sativa.

According to a police report, the officers forced the school Director to withdrawal the money from M-pesa in order to release the reportee.

The officers released him after they were given the said amount.

The officers, who are athletes based at Kibiko Training Camp, will be charged with Demanding Money with Menaces, which is a violation of the law.
