Police are looking into the death of a 2-year-old girl in Kayole who died after being beaten by her parents.
According to neighbours, the couple began beating the child on Monday evening after she refused to eat.
According to witnesses, the child was rushed to a nearby clinic with visible bruises on her body. She was then referred to Mama Lucy Hospital but died before arriving.
According to the neighbours, the woman in the family is the stepmother after the child’s mother died.
“They beat up the child for refusing to eat. It wasn’t the first time they did that,” Gladys Wamboi, the couple’s neighbour said.
The couple has been detained. Police in the area say they are investigating the cause of death.
