The Education Cabinet Secretary, Julius Migos Ogamba, has officially released the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results at a function held today, Friday, 9 January 2026, at AIC Chebisas High School in Eldoret.
CS Ogamba presented the national performance figures and outlined key outcomes of the examinations, which were taken by nearly one million candidates across the country. The results were handed over to President William Ruto, who was briefed on the state of education performance ahead of the formal release.
According to the Ministry of Education and the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), 1,932 candidates scored grade A, while approximately 270,000 candidates attained C+ and above, qualifying them for direct entry into university. The examinations were sat between October 21 and November 21, 2025.
The figures released today also indicate that of the total candidature of around 996,078 candidates, 50 per cent were girls, highlighting gender balance in participation.
CS Ogamba urged candidates, parents and educators to access the results through official channels, warning against misinformation and unofficial websites. Candidates can check their individual results via the KNEC results portal, SMS services and through their schools.
The Ministry said it has put in place measures to manage high traffic on the online portal and ensure smooth access for candidates and parents.
The release of the KCSE results marks a key milestone in Kenya’s education calendar and sets the stage for university placement and other academic progressions.
