Three Kenya Pipeline Company employees were on Monday arraigned in court for stealing petroleum products from the company’s Kisumu terminal.
The three suspects; Reuben Andolo Aseneka, Joseph Mbugua Mwai, and Mutai Micah were charged with conspiracy to steal 13,852 liters of petrol valued at Sh 2.4 million belonging to oil marketers’ companies, which was in the custody of the pipeline company.
Appearing before Kisumu Chief Magistrate Dickson Onyango, the three denied taking part in the crime.
The prosecution opposed bond for the trio, arguing that the offense amounted to economic sabotage.
In his ruling, the chief magistrate noted that the right to bond though not absolute is a right for every individual hence releasing them on a bond of Ksh 500,000.
