3 senators narrate shocking details in dramatic August arrests

The senate committee on legal affairs today summoned the Police Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai to respond to questions concerning the dramatic arrest of 3 senators on the eve of a crucial division of revenue bill vote.

Senator Christopher Langat was at his home at 7.45 pm. In his presentation, Langat said he was surrounded by 25 police officers who identified themselves as DCI officers.

Lang’at waited for his lawyer LSK Chair Nelson Havi before he could let the officers arrest him.

Senator Langat said the dramatic drive down Mombasa road that was televised by media houses, injured his medical state.

After multiple calls for the officers to slow down due to his spinal condition, the officers responded to him that he was a ‘prisoner’ and did not have a right to ask for ‘luxury’.

He concluded that the charges laid upon him were not recorded, and the police have since gone quiet on the state of his case.

Samburu Senator Ltumbesi Lelegwe has whisked away from Nairobi Riverside suites situated in Westlands.

In his narration, Lelegwe confirmed that he received strange phone calls from a senior police officer who wanted him to respond to allegations of inciting cattle rustling activities in Samburu.

Upon feeling that his security was at risk, Lelegwe chose to spend his night at a Wetlands based hotel along Riverside drive.

While checking out of the hotel, DCI police officers pounced on him and drove him out of the city to Samburu.

Lelegwe recorded a statement with the police, who had preferred accusations of sponsoring cattle rustling activities in his county.

The Senate committee took the Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai and the Director of Criminal Intelligence George Kinoti to answer why the three were arrested.
