The recovery and surrender of illicit firearms remains a critical step towards peacebuilding, public safety and the restoration of trust among communities long affected by intercommunal conflict, crime and insecurity.
Yesterday, 23rd March, 2026 marked a significant step in disarmament efforts, with 42 illegal firearms surrendered in Turkana and West Pokot, bringing the total number of illegal weapons recovered to 348.
This outcome underscores the effectiveness of coordinated disarmament efforts, community collaboration and sustained security operations in these regions.
