On the morning of Wednesday, Supreme Court officials received at least 45 ballot boxes from polling places where the court ordered a recount.
A contingent of GSU and regular police officers were stationed at the Milimani law courts to ensure the exercise went smoothly.
The media ream were however not allowed to cover the exercise and were asked to stand aside while officials established ground rules for the vote recount.
A room has been cleared in order to accommodate the agents who will be present for the exercise.
The exercise is scheduled to begin on Wednesday afternoon at an undisclosed location and will last 48 hours.
The exercise is expected to end on Thursday at 2 pm and a report filed in court.
The Registrar shall file her report by 5 pm on September 1, 2022, and avail copies to all parties.
The scrutiny follows a seven Judge bench of the Supreme Court’s order that the electoral commission avails the said ballot boxes for verification in avoidance of doubt.
The application for scrutiny was tabled by the Azimio la Umoja leaders Raila Odinga and Martha Karua’s Advocates at the Highest Court of the land .
