25,000 young people were officially inducted into the Climate WorX Programme during
a ceremony at Uhuru Gardens today, marking another major step in President William
Ruto’s ongoing efforts to combat youth unemployment through action-driven initiatives.
This follows the hiring of 21,000 youth in Nairobi last October, bringing the total number
employed in the capital to 46,000. Nationwide recruitment is actively underway,
targeting an additional 150,000 youth.

Climate WorX is a government-backed green jobs initiative that provides paid
opportunities for youth to participate in climate action, urban development, and
infrastructure projects. Their work includes tree planting, cleaning drainage systems,
waste management, road beautification, and sustainable construction. The programme
also equips participants with life skills to support long-term economic growth and self-
reliance.
