Five people were Saturday morning killed after two cars collided head-on along Namanga- Kajiado highway.
Police said three others were left in critical condition after the accident in the Ilbisi area. The vehicles are moving in opposite directions at the time of the accident.
The accident occurred after a head-on collision between a Probox and a personal salon car.
The Probox, which was headed to Ilbisil had several occupants and four of them died on the spot while others sustained serious injuries, police who visited the scene said.
The bodies of the deceased have since been moved to the Kajiado County Referral Hospital mortuary, while the injured were admitted at the same facility.
Police said they are investigating the incident. It comes at a time when officials say the accidents are on the rise as compared to the same period last year since the new year.
So far more than 270 people have been killed in accidents since the new year, traffic commandant Mary Omari said as compared to the 201 who died same period in 2021. The majority of them are pedestrians.
