6 People Convicted For Murder of Former Juja MP George Thuo To Know Their Fate On June

The Six suspects convicted of the murder of former Juja Member of Parliament George Thuo will be sentenced on June 21.

Justice Roseline Korir said she will endeavor to deliver her ruling on sentencing which will mark the end of the trial murder case.

During the mitigation hearing today Lawyer Dr. Khaminwa told the Judge that the court should not be seen to sacrifice the interest of the children of the convicted offenders in order to appease the spirit of the society.

Dr. Khaminwa in pursuading the court to sentence the convicts to a non custodial sentence said that Indeed their is no amount of punishment that would bring back the life of the deceased.

One of the convicts Andrew Karanja Wainaina told the court that he is a Victim of geography and time, saying that at some point in time he sat at the same table with the deceased and that alone bought him a ticket to a murder conviction.

All the suspects to the brutal murder of George Thuo have maintained their innocence up to the very last point of their murder trial.

Their lawyers in their mitigation have informed the Court that in a criminal trial, their is nothing harder than mitigating for a convict who entirely believes he/she is innocent.

The sixth accused person Ruth Watahi Irungu said she is a Preacher and that she only found herself in the situation she is today because she was social and generous, she went to the club found the deceased and because of her generosity bought him a beer which she is not aware whether it was poisoned.

She said she did not take part in the murder completely and that she left immediately after buying him the beer and there has never been any evidence tabled before court to prove that late Hon. Thuo indeed opened or drunk the said beer.

The Judge said after receiving mitigations from both the defense Counsels and the six convicts Club owner Paul Wainaina Boiyo alias Sheki, Thuo’s aide Christopher Lumbazio Andika alias Lumba, DJs Andrew Karanja Wainaina and Samuel Kuria Ngugi alias Visi, Esther Ndinda Mulinge, a waiter, and a patron Ruth Watahi Irungu alias Atlanta were found guilty and subsequently convicted.
