According to Sudhanshu Pandey, Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs and Food and Public Distribution, India has made no changes to its export policy for non-Basmati rice (parboiled rice) and Basmati rice, reports our New Delhi correspondent.

“The government has not changed its policy on par-boiled rice so that farmers can continue to receive good remuneration,” he said.

Similarly, no changes have been made to the export policy of Basmati rice because it is a premium rice that is mostly consumed by the Indian diaspora in different countries and its export quantity is very small in comparison to other rice.
