7 Judge-Bench To Decide On BBI Ruling Appeal

According to the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Daniel Musinga, a seven-judge bench would hear and decide the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) appeals.

He delivered the announcement while presiding over the Case Management Conference on the BBI appeals, with judges Roseline Nambuye and Hannah Okwengu.
After being granted permission by Chief Justice Martha Koome, Justice Musinga will comprise the seven-judge panel.

The appeal hearing is scheduled for the end of June to the beginning of July.

The conference on Wednesday covered a wide range of matters concerning the BBI appeal, including the amount of time allotted to each side during the hearing.

Lawyer James Orengo, who represents ODM leader Raila Odinga, has urged that the matter be heard in full front of the camera.

He further demanded that the matter be heard within four days because time is running out for the BBI program.

On Tuesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta, ODM leader Raila Odinga, and the BBI secretariat filed an appeal against a High Court verdict that declared the BBI process null and void.
