KCB Foundation has marked a significant milestone in youth empowerment and enterprise development by graduating 800 youths from its flagship 2Jiajiri vocational training programme in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The event, held at Iten, reflects the bank’s commitment to equipping young people with market‑relevant technical and entrepreneurial.
The cohort emerged from 10 accredited Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) across the county, where participants undertook rigorous, hands‑on training in trades ranging from carpentry, plumbing, automotive mechanics, to beauty therapy and ICT.
This robust approach, facilitated under a partnership with the Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works programme, ensures a blend of technical proficiency and enterprise readiness.
At the ceremony, 120 standout graduates were awarded business start‑up toolkits to catalyse their entrepreneurial ventures. These kits include essential tools and materials tailored to each graduate’s trade discipline.
Bernard Baraza, KCB Foundation’s Deputy Chief of Party, emphasized the programme’s mission on the day:
“Our goal is to leverage technical and vocational skills as a direct pathway to youth self‑employment. We are intentional about nurturing entrepreneurship, particularly at the grassroots level where the need is most urgent.”
