The Eldoret High Court has denied bail to administration police Officer Lilian Biwott, who is accused of shooting her husband last month.
Justice Reuben Nyakundi said he agreed with the prosecution in the case who opposed bail saying the suspect could interfere with witnesses if released.
“Upon looking into the submissions tabled before this court, especially the affidavits from some of the potential witnesses in the case, and upon looking at the law carefully which provides for the rights of victims which must be protected, then I am convinced that there stand compelling reasons to deny the accused person here in bond and or bail,” ruled Justice Nyakundi.
He directed that the suspect remain in custody for the time being as the hearing of the case continues.
Lilian is accused of killing her husband Victor Kipchumba on October 9, at Kimumu in Eldoret town.
