Kibera Law Court has ordered detention of a Somali national believed to have taken part in the murder a security guard.
Swaleh Faud Mohammed was arraigned in Court under a miscellaneous application to detain him as the police concludes their investigations.
According to the police, a case of sudden death was reported at Nairobi West Patrol base on 14th April 2024.
The reporter said that their residence security guard namely Leornard Nyongesa had not been seen for a whole day on April 13.
The police said that they proceeded to the scene of the death where they interviewed witnesses and managed to retrieve CCTV footage of the residence.
According to the police, after reviewing the footage they managed to capture Swaleh Faud in a confrontation and fighting with the deceased.
Preliminary investigations confirmed that Swaleh Faud was residing in the nearby residence and has so far narrated to the investigations that he had confrontation with the deceased which turned up ugly and ended up fighting with the deceased.
Swaleh alleged that he went to collect his bicycle at her grandmother’s place and requested the guard to gain access to the premises to pick the bicycle. The security guard denied him the access and dared him to step inside the premises if he was a man enough.
He told police that he forced his way inside the residence and picked the bicycle and while he was going out he was blocked by the guard from getting outside the residence.
He further said that a struggle and confrontation ensued between the two whereby the security guard managed to overpower the respondent herein and snatched away the bike from him and returned it inside.
He was detained in custody pending conclusion of the investigations.
