Adele Announces Break From Music

"I don't have any plans for new music, at all," Adele confessed. "My tank is quite empty from being on stage every weekend in Las Vegas. I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things just for a little while."

Global superstar Adele has announced that she’s taking a hiatus from music after her forthcoming concert residency in Munich, Germany.

The British singer revealed the news in an interview with German broadcaster ZDF, stating that she’s been feeling exhausted from constant performances and is looking forward to taking a break.

“I don’t have any plans for new music, at all,” Adele confessed. “My tank is quite empty from being on stage every weekend in Las Vegas. I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things just for a little while.”

Adele has been performing her Weekends With Adele concert residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas since November 2022 and will conclude it on November 23rd. Before that, she’s heading to Munich where she’ll play two concerts a week for five weeks in a purpose-built stadium.

The residency has already sold an impressive 95% of its tickets.

The stage setup for the Munich residency is truly massive, featuring the largest screen used for a concert at 220m long and 30m tall.

Adele described it as “enormous” and said it will make the audience of 80,000 people feel like they’re having an intimate experience with her.

The concert site itself is massive, covering 400,000 square meters and featuring a 13,000-seat “Adele World” food hall with an English-style pub.

Adele joked that European fans are generally quieter than her American audience, saying “maybe that’s because they’re more polite, whereas Americans can be very, very loud.”

Weekends With Adele has been a huge success, with clips of Adele’s interactions with fans frequently going viral online. She’s known for her empathetic and relatable connections with her audience.

Adele has also been making waves in Germany recently, attending the Euro 2024 championship where she unintentionally became a viral sensation.

During England’s semi-final match against the Netherlands, she told the Dutch crowd to “shut up” before Harry Kane scored a successful penalty kick.

Adele’s last album, 30, was released in November 2021 and topped the charts in both the UK and US. It became the biggest-selling album of that year in the US after just one day on sale.
