Washington D.C. – President Joe Biden has tested positive for the coronavirus, according to a statement made by UnidosUS President and CEO Janet Murguía at the organization’s annual conference in Las Vegas.
The announcement was made during a broadcast on the White House’s YouTube channel, where Murguía informed attendees that the President had sent his regrets and would not be appearing at the event. The conference was part of an effort to rally Hispanic voters ahead of the November election.
Prior to his scheduled appearance, Biden had visited the Original Lindo Michoacan restaurant in Las Vegas, where he greeted diners and was set to participate in an interview with Univision.
This latest development marks the second time in recent weeks that Biden has come into contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. In June, he spent over an hour with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting at the White House, which was also attended by several other world leaders.
The President’s office has not released any further information regarding his condition or whether he will be undergoing treatment. This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
