Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has been summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
In a post on his social media handles on Tuesday, July 23, the vocal lawmaker shared the summon notice, which required him to appear before the directorate on July 24 at 9:00 a.m.
According to the notice, Babu Owino was wanted for questioning for alleged involvement in incitement and money laundering.
“I Eunice Njue the Chief Inspector attached to DCI Nairobi County Headquarters and inquiring into an alleged offence of incitement and money laundry where I do believe you (Babu Owino) is involved or has information which can assist me in my investigations.
“Under the powers conferred to me, I request you to report to me at DCI Nairobi County Headquarters on July 24 at 9:00 a.m. and furnish me with full information concerning the case,” read part of the summon.
The MP was warned of the consequences of failing to appear before the directorate on the specified dates.
“Failure to comply with the above requirement renders you liable for prosecution,” the summon further read.
Reacting to the summon, Babu Owino said, “I have been summoned by the DCI tomorrow to help them investigate myself. Total madness.”
This comes as the outspoken lawmaker continues to take a strong stance against the government, even as he supports the younger generation who have continued to express their dissatisfaction with the government.
