Four charged with possessing explosive devices, firearms during Nane Nane protests

Four Bunge la mwananchi members were today charged with being in possession of explosive devices believed to be smoke grenades and firearms during the nanenane protests.

The four suspects according to their defense Lawyer, are believed to be associates of Jimi Wanjigi.

According to the prosecution, Duncan Odhiambo Otieno, Calvin Ochieng, Kennedy Ochieng and Joshua Augo Otimo were arrested on August 8, 2024 in possession of dangerous weapons.

They are said to have been found with smoke grenades in circumstances that indicated they were armed to commit a felony.

They were also charged with going armed with explosive canisters in public place in such a manner to cause terror to the public.

The accused persons denied the charges before Milimani Magistrate Ndombi and were released on Ksh 300,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 100,000.
