Arsenal kicked off their Premier League season with a solid 2-0 win over Wolverhampton on Saturday, but it seems all anyone can talk about is Yerson Mosquera’s unorthodox methods for making a name for himself.
The Colombian defender stirred the pot with two bizarre incidents that would make anyone question whether he accidentally walked onto the pitch from a comedy club set.
The first act of the Mosquera show came when he dispossessed Arsenal’s Kai Havertz, only for things to quickly spiral into head-scratching chaos.
As Havertz tumbled to the ground, he instinctively grabbed Mosquera by the neck—an attempt to regain control. In response, Mosquera planted his hand on Havertz’s chest and delivered some playful banter, before losing his balance and appearing to clasp Havertz’s throat as he fell.
The drama left fans wondering if they were watching a football match or an episode of a slapstick comedy.
Meanwhile, the match officials, with referee Jarred Gillett and VAR Paul Tierney in sync, decided Mosquera’s antics didn’t warrant punishment—a decision that might have left even the most seasoned football fans chuckling.
But wait, the Mosquera mayhem didn’t end there! The Wolves defender later took his unique approach to personal space to the next level by bizarrely groping Gabriel Jesus’ backside while the striker tried to adjust his boots.
