Safaricom Sets New Reverse Call Limits, Rules

Safaricom PLC has made changes to their popular reverse call service.

Safaricom said the reverse call service is still available but will be limited to two calls only in a day.

The Telecommunication company explained that the customers will be charged for the third reverse call that they will make per day.

“The reverse calls are still here. Please note the initiator of the reverse call will only be billed on the third Reversal call request of the day when the request is accepted by the sponsor,” Safaricom said.

Safaricom stated that customers will incur normal call rates if they use the service after making the third reverse call request

“After the 3rd request, the initiator will not incur any other costs while using the service for the rest of the day,” said Safaricom.

Reverse Call is a service that allows a customer to make a call with or without airtime and the receiver of the call pays on the caller’s behalf.

All Safaricom subscribers are eligible. Customers can use this service by simply putting a # followed by the number you wish to call e.g #07XX XXX XXX.

When the person receiving answers the call, they will get an announcement requesting them to either accept or decline by pressing 1 to accept or 2 to decline. Once they accept, the call will be charged at normal rates.

According to Safaricom, the receiver will be charged for it at normal call rates if they accept the call.

However, the call will be disconnected and both parties will not be charged if the receiver declines.

“If they don’t accept or decline the call will be disconnected,” reads a statement on Safaricom website.
