Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has addressed the recent reversal of several policies implemented during his tenure as Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary.Â
In an interview with KTN News, Mutua clarified that these decisions were not made solely by him but were the result of collective cabinet discussions.
“The decisions were cabinet decisions, they were not my decisions,” Mutua emphasized, responding to questions about the policy changes executed by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
He further explained that the government operates on a principle of collective decision-making, not individual choices.
“We were working together; this government doesn’t just operate on individuals making their own decisions. We work on the collective good of decision-making,” Mutua stated.
The clarification comes after Mudavadi informed the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations that the government had revised its stance on direct communication between diplomatic missions and various government entities.
Future correspondence must now go through the Office of the Chief of Protocol within the State Department of Foreign Affairs, marking a shift from Mutua’s previous approach.
Mutua downplayed any suggestion of discord, noting the fluid nature of government policy and reaffirming his commitment to serving effectively in his current role in the Labour Ministry.
