Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called upon the National Police Service and officers of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to uphold professionalism in their duties and to remain apolitical in their operations.
Speaking during a church service in Embakasi Central, Nairobi County, on Sunday, Gachagua emphasized the importance of adhering to the law and conducting investigations impartially.
“The DCI should not take the country backwards on the harassment of political leaders. They must be professional and deal with crime in accordance with the law,” he stated, urging the use of constitutional provisions and established legal frameworks such as the Penal Code and the Evidence Act to guide their work.
Gachagua said that all citizens deserve respect and should be listened to without discrimination.
He highlighted that good leadership involves understanding the people’s views and aspirations.
“I want to encourage leaders to listen to the people and align with their aspirations. Also, be truthful. Kenyans are intelligent and can no longer be cheated,” he added.
Promoting a theme of servant leadership, the Deputy President stressed the need for humility among leaders, encouraging them to be empathetic and responsive to citizens, who he defined as the employers of their leaders.
Additionally, Gachagua called upon Kenyans to pray for President William Ruto and his administration, asking for wisdom and grace in leadership.
He also pledged that the government will address concerns regarding property owners affected by recent demolitions, signaling a commitment to uphold the rights and welfare of citizens.
“Let us embrace servant leadership and work for Kenyans,” he concluded, as he urged unity and collaboration among citizens in building a better nation.
