A suspected thief was burned to death by outraged villagers in Kiamaiga, Kegati, following a failed robbery attempt. 
The incident occurred on the main road connecting Kisii and Keroka, where a group of locals mobilized to confront the group of criminals.
According to the residents, the suspects had planned to raid the home of a prominent businessman in the area. However, the businessman’s child fled through the back door and alerted neighbors, who quickly sprang into action. United in purpose, the villagers confronted the intruders; while some managed to escape, one was caught.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the villagers subjected the captured suspect to a brutal beating before setting him on fire along with the vehicle they used, a Toyota Noah. Police found materials at the scene, including police insignia and a knife, suggesting that the criminals had malicious intent.
Kegati police have launched a manhunt to apprehend other members of the gang. Additionally, the owner of the vehicle used by the suspect remains unidentified, and authorities have initiated a thorough investigation to gather more information.
