Egyptian National accused of stealing USD 9,900 detained until Wednesday

An Egyptian National accused of stealing from his friend at Ngara in Starehe Sub-County in Nairobi will remain in police custody until Wednesday when the court will issue a ruling on the suitability of his bail and bond release.

Ahmed Gamal Mohamed Attia was arraigned before Milimani Law Court in Nairobi facing charges of stealing USD 9,900 from Peter Mwangi Maina on diverse dates between September 15, 2023, and May 30, 2024.

He was also accused of assaulting Peter Maina on September 12, 2024 thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

Appearing before Magistrate Onsarigo at Milimani Law Court, the accused denied the charges with the prosecution opposing to his release on bond saying he is a flight risk.

The Court ordered police to detain him until September 18, 2024, when his bail and bond release application will be determined.
