Police boss ordered to give progress of probe in missing Wajir MCA

The High Court has directed both the DCI and the DCI to file a report on the progress of investigation involving alleged abduction of Dela Ward MCA Yusuf Hussein Ahmed before the Court on October 4,2024.

Further, the DCI and the ODPP have been ordered to ensure the key witness of the abduction, one Wambua Kioko who made the report of the incident is secured pending a formal application to place him under witness protection.

Issuing the orders, High Court Judge, Justice Alexander Muteti urged the government to realize the urgency of the matter saying where the liberty of an individual is involved nothing can be more urgent than the liberty.

“It is important for everybody to realise the urgency of the matter. Because where the liberty of an individual is involved, nothing can be more urgent than that… remember these people look at you to provide answers they cannot of their own be able to get…” said Justice Muteti.

The Dela Ward, in Wajir County MCA was abducted on the night of September 13, 2024 from a Taxi on his way to South B estate.

He has since gone missing with his family being left in the dark as to his whereabouts.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Lawyers together with Advocate Danstan Omari, Shedrack Wambui among other prominent Lawyers representing the family in Court have pleaded with the court to stamp its authority and ensure the liberty of the MCA is protected.

SSP Jastus Imana, the current deputy regional Criminal investigations officer Nairobi region confirmed to court that on his office received a report of the abduction of Dela Ward MCA on September 13, 2024.

The report was made by a Farasi Taxi driver whom the MCA had contracted to carry him to his house.

The case will proceed on October 4, 2024.
