Businessman and Safina Party leader Jimmy Wanjigi has condemned what he describes as politically motivated harassment by the Kenya Kwanza administration following a disturbing incident at his Muthaiga residence on Saturday night.
Wanjigi claims that police vehicles invaded his property and left the blood of an unidentified animal outside his gate, which he views as a direct intimidation tactic.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Wanjigi expressed his alarm over the incident, stating, “They came here, and you can see the blood that was spilled at my house. These are people who have decided to threaten me again in my home. They are telling me they are going to spill my blood.”
In light of the escalating threats, Wanjigi disclosed that he has vacated his residence and is taking precautions to ensure his safety. “We are trying to be as evasive as possible, but I want to say this: we are not going to be intimidated, neither me nor my family,” he asserted.
Wanjigi further alleged that communication networks around his home have been jammed, severely hindering his ability to access the internet or communicate effectively.
He claimed that a vehicle suspected to belong to the police has been parked outside his residence for nearly a month, further disrupting his connectivity.
“For the last 27 days, a vehicle has been outside there. We cannot use the internet; we cannot watch TV, and this is called massive jamming,” he stated.
This incident follows a high court order issued on September 11, which barred police from trespassing on Wanjigi’s property after his wife, Irene Nzisa Wanjigi, accused officers of raiding their home on August 8. As of now, the National Police Service has yet to respond to Wanjigi’s allegations of harassment and surveillance. Wanjigi has framed these actions as part of a broader effort to silence him amid ongoing political tensions in the country.
