A tragic accident on the Sagana-Karatina highway has claimed the life of a woman and left several others injured.
The accident occurred when a 14-seater matatu lost control and rolled near Kiangwaci, while ferrying passengers toward Karatina.
Witnesses reported that the woman died instantly, while the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.
Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, with initial suspicions pointing to speeding as a possible factor.
This incident follows another fatal accident on the same highway just days ago, in which a mother and her nine-year-old son were killed by a speeding milk truck.
The driver of the truck later surrendered to authorities.
The Sagana-Karatina highway has gained a reputation for deadly accidents, prompting concern from local residents and officials.
According to the National Police Service, road accidents have claimed 3,369 lives between January and mid-September this year, with pedestrians, motorcyclists, and passengers being the most affected.
Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has expressed concern over the rising number of fatalities, calling for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and urging Kenyans to exercise caution on the roads to curb further loss of life.
