Former KTN health reporter Dr. Mercy Korir has secured a prestigious new role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Editor-in-Chief at Willow Health Media, a Nairobi-based nonprofit funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Korir, a respected medical practitioner and journalist, made the announcement via LinkedIn.
“I’m happy to share that I started a new position as Chief Executive Officer & Editor-in-Chief at Willow Health Media!” she posted.
Willow Health Media focuses on improving health outcomes and literacy for Kenya’s poorest communities through investigative, accountability-driven reporting on crucial health issues.
As CEO, Dr. Korir will lead the organization’s mission to elevate health awareness across Kenya.
Dr. Korir holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery, a Master’s in Communication Studies from the University of Nairobi, and a Master’s in Marketing and Finance from USIU.
Her career spans both the medical and media industries, including roles as a medical doctor, health journalist, and business development manager.
With over nine years of experience, she has been lauded for her health communication efforts, including receiving the Presidential Uzalendo Award in 2020 for her COVID-19 coverage.
Dr. Korir’s appointment is expected to bring a wealth of expertise and a fresh perspective to Willow Health Media’s operations.
