Female Police Constable Dies In Her Utawala Apartment

A female police officer, Constable Pauline Adenyoh, tragically passed away after collapsing at her rented residence in Utawala, Machakos County.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on Tuesday, October 8, around 10:00 PM after Adenyoh experienced a sudden seizure that proved fatal.

Her husband reported the emergency, and she was quickly transported to Reale Hospital in Utawala; unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival. The body has since been moved to Chiromo Funeral Home for preservation, pending a post-mortem examination.

Adenyoh’s death marks another heartbreaking incident within the police force, where mental health struggles are increasingly recognized as a serious concern.

The pressures of the job can lead to heightened stress, with some officers reportedly facing severe depression, sometimes leading to suicide or health-related issues.

In response to this troubling trend, police authorities have initiated counseling services aimed at supporting officers’ mental well-being. The National Police Service Commission has established a dedicated unit to provide mental health assistance and develop outreach programs addressing trauma and substance abuse within the ranks.

Officials emphasize that police officers often bear the weight of community problems while risking their lives to maintain law and order. The growing number of health-related incidents underscores the urgent need for comprehensive mental health support and intervention in the service to ensure the safety and well-being of those who serve.
