Ronaldo Speaks Out: Retirement Is a Spontaneous Decision for the Icon

Cristiano Ronaldo, the iconic forward and captain of the Portuguese national team, recently took a moment to greet Geovany Quenda, a 17-year-old winger making his senior international debut.

As Ronaldo climbed the stairs at the Portugal camp, he approached the shy youngster, asking, “So my man, are you recovered from the game?”

This friendly interaction came after Sporting Clube de Portugal’s recent victory over Porto, showcasing Ronaldo’s supportive nature toward rising talents.

Despite the wave of criticism following Portugal’s quarter-final exit in Euro 2024, Ronaldo remains undeterred in his commitment to international football.

Having donned the national jersey since 2003, the 39-year-old forward reiterated his intention to continue representing Portugal, emphasizing that retirement is not on the horizon.

In his first interview post-Euros, Ronaldo shared insights with Now, a local broadcast channel where he holds the title of second-largest shareholder.

He indicated that his retirement from international duty would come as a “spontaneous decision,” hinting at his desire to maintain an element of surprise in his career transition.

His focus is clear: pursuing the illustrious milestone of 1,000 career goals. With an impressive track record and an unwavering dedication to the sport, Ronaldo continues to lead by example, inspiring both seasoned athletes and newcomers like Quenda as he defies age and expectations on the international stage.
