The National Police Service (NPS) has announced the promotion of 183 police officers who have successfully completed the Higher Training Course (HTC) and Senior Training Course (STC).Â
The interviews for these promotions began on October 22, 2024, and will continue until October 29, 2024, at the Central Bank of Kenya Pension Towers.
This latest round of promotions builds on the 515 Chief Inspectors elevated since 2019, following the establishment of the current commission.
According to Section 10 (2) of the NPSC Act, the commission can delegate promotion authority for ranks below Superintendent of Police to the Inspector General, while retaining oversight for higher ranks to enhance efficiency and accountability in human resource management.
The six-month HTC and STC programs aim to prepare Chief Inspectors for leadership roles within the NPS, the Administration Police Service (AP), and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Over the past five years, a total of 517 officers from both the Kenya Police and Administration Police Services have benefited from these training programs.
Promotions are based on merit, service records, and various selection criteria to ensure deserving candidates are recognized for their contributions.
The rigorous training covers essential skills including governance, financial management, and ethical leadership.
