The family of former President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced the passing of William Maina Gakuo, brother to Margaret Kenyatta.
An obituary published in a local daily on Saturday, November 9, conveyed the family’s sorrow and acceptance of what they describe as God’s will.
Gakuo, who is also the husband of Sheila Wanjiku Mwangi, leaves behind a legacy filled with personal connections, being an uncle to the late Noni and a doting uncle to many others, including Jomo, Achola, Lena, Bulisa, Ngina, Alex, Muhoho, and Chizi.
The family will convene at Gakuo’s residence in Karen for funeral arrangements on the weekend of November 9 and 10.

The funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12, at 10:00 am at the Hindu crematorium, followed by cremation. The cause of death has yet to be disclosed.
Although Gakuo was known for his low profile, he played a pivotal role in the personal life of Uhuru Kenyatta.
Reports suggest that he was instrumental in connecting Uhuru with his wife, Margaret. The two men attended St. Mary’s High School together, where their friendship blossomed, eventually leading to Uhuru’s relationship with Margaret.
Their relationship culminated in a marriage at Holy Family Basilica in 1989, marking the start of a partnership that continues to this day.
