A Nairobi Court has released two people accused creating a WhatsApp account in the name PS Raymond Omollo to allegedly defraud members of the public.
The two suspects, Dennis Kipchumba and Pikei Winston Gilbert were charged at Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi with personating the Principal Secretary Ministry of Interior and National Adminstration.
They are accused of creating a WhatsApp group in the name and Profile Picture of PS Raymond Omollo and calling members of the public, falsely pretending that they were offering jobs in the Government.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi, the suspects denied the charges and were released on Ksh 100,000 bond.
The two suspects are said to have been using the said WhatsApp group to request for some token from members of the Public majorly from Luo Nyanza pretending they could facilitate them secure some government Jobs.
When PS Raymond Omollo received complaints from the public about the WhatsApp group he says that he was shocked because he didn’t have such WhatsApp page and no day he had created a page to try and fetch cash from members of the public.
The two suspects were arrested on November 2, 2024, at Subaru field in the Outcast of Eldoret town.
