DAVID? Seven-Year-Old Survives Five Days Among Lions and Elephants in Zimbabwe

A seven-year-old boy, Tinotenda Pudu, has been found alive after surviving five harrowing days in the Matusadona Game Park in northern Zimbabwe, a wildlife area home to lions, elephants, and other dangerous animals.

Mashonaland West MP Mutsa Murombedzi revealed the incredible story on social media, describing how Tinotenda wandered 49 km (30 miles) from his home into the vast park.

The boy endured roaring lions and passing elephants while sleeping on rocky perches, eating wild fruits, and digging small wells in dry riverbeds for water—a survival skill taught in the drought-prone region.

Members of the Nyaminyami community launched a search party, beating drums daily to guide him.

However, it was park rangers who found him on the fifth day after spotting his footprints.

“This was probably his last chance of being rescued,” said MP Murombedzi, noting Tinotenda had narrowly missed being hit by a ranger’s car before being discovered.

The 1,470 sq km (570 sq mile) park, known for its high density of lions, posed significant risks to the young boy. Across social media, Tinotenda has been hailed for his resilience.

“An incredible tale of survival,” one user remarked. Another added, “He’s got a story for a lifetime.”
