The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced that Kenyans wishing to resit their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams must do so by 2027.
Speaking during the release of the 2024 KCSE results, KNEC CEO David Njengere stated that only three opportunities remain for candidates to retake the exams, with the final tests scheduled for 2025, 2026, and 2027.
“I wish to remind the public that the last KCSE examinations will be administered in 2027,” Njengere said, urging potential candidates to register before the deadline.
Registration for the 2025 KCSE and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) exams will begin on February 17, while this year’s Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) candidates can register starting January 27.
Njengere also lauded the council’s success in preventing early exam paper exposure, a malpractice previously reported in some centers.
“Last year, we did not have a single case of early exposure of the second-session papers,” he affirmed.
In addition, KNEC has uploaded sample papers for the KJSEA on its portal and cautioned parents against purchasing them from third parties, emphasizing that they are freely accessible online.
The CEO further announced plans to gather feedback from KJSEA candidates via online questionnaires to improve the examination process.
