Murang’a County has emerged as the best-performing county in Kenya, according to the latest County Index report released by InfoTrak on Tuesday, February 11.
The county achieved a score of 52 per cent, narrowly edging out Homa Bay County, which scored 51 per cent.
Trans Nzoia and Kirinyaga tied for third place with a score of 48 per cent, followed by Kisii, Nyeri, and Kisumu, each scoring 47 per cent.
Governor Irungu Kang’ata of Murang’a was named the top-performing governor, scoring 68 per cent.
He was closely followed by Trans Nzoia’s George Natembeya at 64 percent, with Homa Bay’s Gladys Wanga securing third place at 61 percent.
Other notable governors in the top 10 included Anyang’ Nyong’o (59 per cent), Mutula Kilonzo Jr. (57 per cent), and Simba Arati (55 per cent).
InfoTrak CEO Angela Ambitho attributed Murang’a’s success to its adoption of live dashboards for tracking sectoral performance, which has minimized inefficiencies.
“The best-performing county utilises live dashboards to track various sectors to ensure no inefficiency,” Ambitho stated.
The rankings reflect growing competition among counties to deliver better services and improve governance.
