Ezekiel Kipkoech Tarus, a police officer attached at VIP protection CEO Safaricom, has finally been charged with the murder of his colleague officer.
Tarus was arraiged before Justice James Wakiaga at Makadara High Court on Thursday where he was formally charged with the murder of Raphael Kimuli Wambua, a police officer attached to the Central Bank of Kenya.
According to the investigations, on February 23, 2025, the deceased Raphael Kimuli was in the company of his brother Erick Ngolania Wambua, a police officer attached at GSU headquarters when they went to watch football matches and drink at Wasafi bar.
They allegedly stayed in the bar up to around 1:20am and proceeded home.
A few steps from the bar they were allegedly attacked by PC Ezekiel Tarus who fatally shot the deceased person using his firearm Jericho pistol s/no 44338440.
Appearing before Justice Wakiaga, Tarus denied the murder charges and was released on a cash bail of Ksh.500,000.
The court further directed that he should not contact any witnesses and must report to the investigating officer every Thursday until the case is heard and determined.
The case is scheduled to be heard on May 20, 2025.
