Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi, through the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education, Gender, Culture, and Social Services, Mercy Njagi, has revoked the appointment of 22 members of the Ward Education Bursary Committees.

In a Gazette notice dated March 21, 2025, Njagi confirmed that the members from seven wards were dismissed effective immediately.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 7 of the Kiambu County Education Bursary Fund Act 2014, the County Executive Committee Member for Education revokes the appointment of the persons named in the first column of the schedule as members of Ward Education Bursary Committees of respective wards as specified in the third column of the schedule,” the notice read.

The notice did not disclose the reason for the dismissal.

Among those affected are Moses Ndung’u Kahura and Julius Ngotho Githiri from Muguga Ward, Anthony Kamau from Ngoliba Ward, and Ephantus Macharia Muriithi from Kahawa Wendani Ward.

This development comes two months after the Migori Public Service Board dismissed 181 county workers, primarily from the Centre for International Health Education and Biosecurity (CIHEB), citing budget cuts and performance reviews.

As the situation unfolds, residents await further clarification on the sudden changes within the Kiambu Ward Bursary Committees.
