Joshua Kimmich capped off the performance with a thunderous strike in the second half, sealing the three points and restoring momentum for Bayern after their midweek Champions League disappointment against Inter Milan.
The result heaps pressure on Bayer Leverkusen, who trail by nine points but have a game in hand against struggling St Pauli. A slip from Leverkusen could all but hand Bayern the Bundesliga crown.
For Heidenheim, the defeat leaves them in 16th place, just two points above the automatic relegation zone. They now face a tense fight for survival as the season draws to a close.
Kane’s contribution continues to justify his blockbuster move to Germany, and with silverware now within reach, the England skipper is proving to be Bayern’s talisman when it matters most.
