The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced the arrest of two more suspects linked to the tragic shooting of Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were, a development that marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation.
In a press release issued today, the National Police Service confirmed the arrests of Edwin Oduor Odhiambo, also known by the aliases Abdul Rashid, and Dennis Sewe Munyasi. The arrests follow weeks of intensive investigations into the brutal killing of the Member of Parliament.
Upon apprehension, the suspects reportedly led detectives to a residence belonging to Edwin Odhiambo. At the location, authorities recovered two firearms—a Retay Falcon and a Sarsilmaz pistol—alongside nine rounds of 9 mm calibre ammunition. These weapons are now undergoing forensic analysis to determine their connection to the fatal shooting.
Additionally, a bag and a pair of shoes believed to match items worn by one of the suspects during the attack were also retrieved from the scene. These pieces of evidence have been submitted to forensic experts for further examination.
The DCI extended its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Hon. Were and expressed deep gratitude to members of the public for their cooperation and support. Investigators acknowledged that the timely provision of crucial information by the public has played a pivotal role in the progress made so far.
