Detectives have arrested another suspect linked to the assassination of Kasipul Member of Parliament, Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were, who was gunned down on April 30, 2025. Amos Barasa Kasili was apprehended in an intelligence-led operation in the Kibera Darajani area.
Barasa is believed to have played a key role in the murder, acting as the motorcycle rider who trailed the MP’s vehicle before the fatal attack. The Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number KMFZ 413W, used in the operation, was recovered in his possession at the time of arrest.

Forensic investigations connected Barasa to the crime scene and the main suspects. He reportedly confessed to participating in the plot and admitted receiving Ksh. 50,000 for his involvement. Authorities revealed that he is a known criminal who poses as a Boda Boda operator while collaborating with armed gangs.

CCTV footage near Parliament showed a motorcycle matching the one recovered, further linking Barasa to the murder. Police also disclosed that he has a long criminal record, including a stint at Industrial Area Prison, where he allegedly met some of his co-conspirators.
Barasa is currently in custody and will be arraigned as investigations continue. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring all those involved in the killing are brought to justice.
