Chris Brown Charged with Grievous Bodily Harm Over Alleged London Nightclub Assault

US singer Chris Brown has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent in connection to an alleged assault at a nightclub in central London, according to the Metropolitan Police. The incident reportedly occurred on 19 February 2023.

The 36-year-old R&B artist was arrested in the early hours of Thursday at a hotel in Manchester. He remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear before Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

In a statement, Adele Kelly, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, confirmed: “We have authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Chris Brown with one count of grievous bodily harm, contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.” She also emphasized that “criminal proceedings against this defendant are active” and that “he has the right to a fair trial.”

According to The Sun, Brown arrived in the UK on Wednesday afternoon, flying into Manchester Airport aboard a private jet. The singer is currently on tour and is expected to perform at several venues across the United Kingdom throughout June and July.

Further details about the alleged assault, including the identity of the victim, have not yet been disclosed. The case is now moving through the legal process as authorities continue their investigation.
