Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has broken his silence in a dramatic tell-all, revealing deep personal betrayal by President William Ruto—once his political ally and frequent house guest.
In a candid conversation with Obinna TV, Gachagua described the emotional and political fallout that led to the end of their partnership, revealing he now views Ruto as the man who “came calling in tears,” yet ultimately “betrayed me in a vicious manner.”
Gachagua disclosed that President Ruto regularly visited his home during the campaign season, often sharing meals with his family and praying together as he sought Gachagua’s support to ascend to power.
Photos of these moments still hang on Gachagua’s walls—not as tokens of friendship, but as “a constant reminder of betrayal.”
“When I see William Ruto in those pictures, I remember a man who ate here, prayed here, begged me not to abandon him—only to turn around and scheme to push me out of office,” Gachagua said.
“I keep those pictures there to remind myself to be careful.”
Since his brutal fall out, Gachagua has been on an anti-Ruto rampage, spewing secret deals allegedly forged to benefit the President and his ‘cronies’.
In response, Gachagua has now launched his own political outfit—the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP)—aimed at rebuilding trust with his Mt. Kenya base and offering an alternative to what he terms the “conmanship politics” that have defined the current administration.
President William Ruto’s allies have branded this party as a tribal outfit meant to destabilize the country.
